Rasha's Story

Rasha is a 36 years old Syrian refugee who lives in Za’atari Camp. She came to Za’atari Camp from Dara’a in 2013. She heard about the Youth Center its program and been attractive to #MeWeSyria once she heard about it.

“I never expressed my opinion, and whenever someone asks me about anything, I tend to keep silent, especially in front of my husband, and I used to allow people’s opinion to control my life ”. That is how she used to see her-life before joining the #MeWesyria hub.

Once she joined #MeWeSyria Hub, she realized that her opinion is important, slowly #MeWeSyria facilitators  started to notice the change in her behavior and how she reacts to situations around her “I do my best to be on time, I don’t want to miss any moment or word from #MeWeSyria  because remembering even one word from the session might solve a problem for me”

Rasha lives with her second husband after she left her daughter Noor (9 years old) to live with her grandmother. Rasha used to bring her daughter to attend the sessions with her. that’s helped them to spend more time and that is how Nour became a participant in the #MeWeSyria program.

Nour presence strengthened the connection between the mother and daughter and encouraged Rasha to express her love to Nour especially in the “Future to present” exercise when Nour felt and saw how much she meant to her mother when Rasha said: “My life is connected to Nour happiness” then Nour ran to her mother and hugged her.

One of the most effective exercises that left a significant impact on her life was the “breathing” exercise, where she mentioned that this exercise helped her to control herself, her anger, her reactions, and mostly her stress.

Moreover, Rasha mentioned that because of the “curiosity over fear” principle she learned how to express herself more and ask about things she usually didn’t ask about, especially with her husband.
